Who is Nic Cecire?

Nic CecireNic has been playing professionally for over 20 years. In that time he has performed and recorded with many of Australia’s leading artists in a wide variety of musical settings.

Nic is an in demand drummer and has worked with some of Australia’s leading jazz musicians such as, George Golla, Daryl Aberhart, Greg Coffin trio, Elizabeth Geyer, Tina Harrod, Neilsen Gough, James Morrison, Dale Barlow, Guy Strazz, Kristen Berardi, Jenny Morris, Coffin Bros,  Bill Risby, Andrew Firth, James Valentine, Monsieur Camembert, Lily Dior, Mark 4, Niki Crayson, James Muller, Adrian Cunningham, Jonathon Zwartz, Steve Hunter, Jeff Duff, Adam Miller, Dorian Mode, to name a few. 

He has also recorded with artists such as the Whitlam’s, Yothu Yindi, Daryl Aberhart’s vocal album of John Scofield songs, Greg Coffin Trio, Elizabeth Geyer, Dominique Fillon and Steve Rodby, Amy V, Jason Lowe, David Longo Band, Stiff Gins, Neilsen Gough Sextet and Quartet, Anita Spring, Stephan Schafer Quartet, Andrew Firth, Dorian Mode, Sue Cruickshank, Fish Fry, Renée Berger, Adam Miller Trio, Julie Wilson, On Inc, Sarah J Hyland, Terence Koo, drum and piano duet with Gavin Ahearn, as well as jingles for Virgin,Telstra and AGL.

Recent performances also include the Hunter/Central Coast Schools Spectacular ‘ Starstruck’ (2004/05/06), concerts in Hong Kong with Neilsen Gough Q’tet, Melbourne tour with Coffin Brothers, Magnetic Island Jazz festival with Mark 4, Thredbo and Manly jazz festivals with Daryl Aberhart Octet.

Nic has performed at various Jazz festivals including Manly International, Magnetic Island, Thredbo, Bellingen, Dubbo and various Newcastle festivals.
Nic has studied with some of Australia’s leading drummers, such as David Jones and Andrew Gander, as well as completing the jazz course at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 94/95.

When not performing Nic is a highly sought after drum tutor and has had many private students. He also taught at the Hunter School of the Performing Arts(1997 - 2007) and Newcastle TAFE (from 1996 – 2005). He is currently lecturing at the Australian Institute of Music.

Nic has presented various drum workshops for the Drum Shop, Newcastle Music Week and various schools in the Hunter and Sydney region. He is also an endorsee of Sabian Cymbals, Aquarian drumheads and Le Soprano drums.
